Frequently Asked Questions - Payments
What our clients say...
When you enter online via First Place Processing you will be directed to a payment page where you can pay for your entries via debit or credit card. You only pay for what you enter.
If you want a camping pitch you MUST pay for camping plus at least one run (you can add to your entry up to the closing date).
If you do not need camping, you can save your entry and pay up to the closing date. You will receive a reminder that payment is due 5 days and 1 day before the closing date. Note that if you do not pay before the closing date your entry will be deleted and you will not be able to enter the show.
Whilst it is completely free to register on First Place Processing, every entry you make incurs a 75p transaction charge to cover the costs of the payment gateway.
This does mean that if you edit your entry and add anything to it you will be charged another 75p for the subsequent transaction.
If you edit your entry up until the closing date in such a way that you are due a refund, a refund request will be triggered and we will refund payment to the card used to make the initial transaction normally within 2 weeks of the refund request. The refund will be for the amount due minus £1.00 to cover the costs of the payment gateway.
Note that this only applies to entries made online.
On rare occasions, some transactions are duplicated. This is usually caused when you enter via a smartphone/iPad and do not close the browser window for a period of time after making the transaction. We perform regular audits to check for this and where we find duplicate payments we will immediately refund one amount in full (no fee applied) to the card used to make the entry.
If you think you may have made a duplicate payment, please let us know asap.
For security reasons and to avoid high processing charges, we do not store card details on the First Place Processing website. Therefore, one has to enter card details every time.
This appears to be a built-in security feature of the Payment Gateway site used to handle the transactions. If you make 2 payments in a short period of time with a card that has no recognised activity on the site, the 2nd one fails to guard against fraudulent use. If you find this happens to you, save the 2nd show and try entering a little time later. It is usually ok to try again after 5 - 10 minutes.
